The Ninja Reviews... The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer

If you wanted more Twilight Fun, then you've definitely got it! Stephenie Meyer released her first novella highlighting the life of a minor character in Eclipse.

Bree is a newborn with more sense in her head then most. She feeds on pimps, prostitutes, the homeless...anyone who won't be missed, which is what Riley has instructed her coven to do. She can barely remember the life she had three months ago when she was human. Living with her fellow newborns is a hellish experience with few rules and almost zero compassion. All she knows of life is feed at night, stay out of everyone's notice, and get home before dawn or die. This is what she has been told to believe.

Then she meets Diego, an 11-month-old vampire with a sense of curiosity, friendship, and some common sense. Together they investigate Her, their creator and the person who they know is behind their entire coven.  Their search leads them to discover a terrible danger, making them pawns in a scheme that could kill them all. 

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is written from the point of view of the title character. From her life, we learn how Victoria assembled her army of newborn vampires and a full account of the Volturi's knowledge of the army's presence.  Though the novel was an interesting glimpse at a different vampire's perspective, it doesn't feel as stand-out as the other novels in the Twilight Saga.  I felt somewhat interested by the story but, at the same time, felt like the entire story was drawn out the same way romance novels are.... a thin plot stretched to cover more pages. 

All in all The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is well worth a read if you enjoyed the Twilight Saga.  Though I enjoyed reading it and am glad that I did, I don't find myself eager to add it to my bookshelf, right next to Breaking Dawn.

Okay. I loves me some Twilight. I really, really do. I bought all the books, I own the super-duper special edition of Twilight on DVD. I've even played the New Moon board game (but lost to my sister)! But I am also able to find humor in some of the Twilight mania. Ninja Angela sent me a link to this blog post at NPR's Monkey See blog and it made me laugh out loud.

Summit Entertainment just released a 10-second teaser trailer before they release the full trailer for Eclipse. Tomorrow we can all watch the full trailer, but today they just want to make us pull out our hair with the nearly unbearable anticipation of it all.

Twilight like you've never seen it

I'm a big fan of Etsy.com. I love to crochet and sew with felt and make crazy things. And I love to see what crazy things other people have made.
