The Host by Stephanie Meyer spins the tale of an alien race, called souls, who take over Earth and its inhabitants. The book describes one soul's predicament when the mind of its human host refuses to cooperate with her takeover. This chilling science fiction, fantasy, love story all revolves around Melanie "Mel" Stryder; her body has been taken over by one of the souls but her mind is still able to live and even talk with the “host” of her body. The host of her body is set on the mission on finding the “wild” humans and capturing them but is constantly stopped by Mel. Mel’s memories are surfacing; will Wanderer, the soul’s name who has taken over her body, seek out the humans and turn them in or find a gentler solution to the calamity that has become her life.
