The Ninja Reviews. . .Hunted (House of Night book 5) by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

For those who haven't read any of the books in the House of Night series, here's a quick explanation: Zoey Redbird has been marked (literally marked with a cool facial tattoo) as a fledgling vampire. Her home life is less than stellar and the only place she's ever felt truly at peace is with her Cherokee Grandma Redbird at her lavender farm. Now Zoey must move in to the House of Night, a school for fledgling vampires, where she discovers that the Goddess Nyx has marked her as special. Zoey makes some true friends in the House of Night, but she also finds those to fear.

Possible SPOILERS for new readers!!

In Hunted, the latest installment, Zoey has found and lost love, her friendships have changed, her loyalties tested, and her growing power has made many enemies. Her greatest enemy yet has arrived, and he is just as desirable as he is terrible. This makes him all the more dangerous. But Zoey has many new friends and allies to help her, including the Benedictine nuns (who would have thought?), the Red Fledglings, and even some human friends.

This book has the trademark twists, turns, and even humor that P.C. and Kristin Cast are known for. The humor is a nice touch with some of the more violent attacks that happen in the book. I never thought I'd say this, but Aphrodite is one of my favorite characters (my others being Stevie Ray and Grandma Redbird). And the scenes where the teens have to hide underground are kind of creepy.

The authors leave us with a little taste of a resolution, but there are questions left unanswered, so I don't doubt that we will see another House of Night book.

Recommended for teens 14+ due to violence and some adult themes.
