Coming Soon in 2009

It's 2009 - holy cow! I'm excited about this new year because of all the awesome books coming out. I've filled up my GoodReads.com account with so many books on my To Read list that it's ridiculous. Here are just a few of the titles we have to look forward to:

Melissa Marr's third book is actually a sequel to Wicked Lovely (which was her first book). We get to follow Seth and Aislinn as they deal with the changes that have taken place for Aislinn since she became fully-involved in the world of Faerie. I won't say any more because I don't want to ruin the first book for those who haven't read it.

Dave and his buddies just want to spend their summer hanging out and having fun. But their fathers want them to get jobs. When Dave and his friends try to pretend they have jobs, things get complicated after Dave's father requests proof that Dave actually has a job. This sounds like something one of my own brothers would have done.

Annika's little brother Jeremy has cancer, and she will do absolutely anything to help him. When Annika tells Jeremy that there is a magic genie who will grant any wish he has, she has to make good on her promise by fulfulling Jeremy's wish: get his television idol to come and visit him! This one sounds like it could be a little sad, but funny, too.

I am going to read this book based solely on the main characters name: Maybelline Mary Katherine Mary Ann Chestnut. Named after 2 Miss Americas and a brand of mascara, "Maybe" Chestnut doesn't know who her birth father is and wants to get away form her mom's boyfriend. She decides to leave for California with her friends Hollywood and Ted (short for Thammasat Tantipinichwong Schneider).

Fans of the House of Night series will be excited to hear that the 5th book in the series, Hunted, comes out in March. What will happen to Zoey Redbird and her friends now that they have gone underground? Again, because this is a series, I won't say anymore because I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't been reading the series. And if you haven't been reading the series, give it a chance because there is lots of action, intrigue, and some really original ideas about what vampires are like.

In my next post, I will do reviews for 3 books, 2 of which haven't even come out yet! That's right. We got Advanced Reader Copies and I snatched them up to read. Stay tuned for reviews on:

Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith. This one takes place in the same world (different characters) as her previous novel, Tantalize.

Evermore by Alyson Noel

Need by Carrie Jones

Speaking of reads for 2009, here are some of the books I'm looking forward for this year (most are already published):
1001 Cranes by Naomi Hirahara

Love (and other uses for Duct Tape) by Carrie Jones

Heir of Sevenwaters by Juliet Mariller

and dozens more. Out of the books listed, I most interested in reading "Just One Wish". It sounds like a sweet, endearing book.
